February is Birthday Month

As most of you blogreaders know.. February is birthday month in this family. We kicked it off this year with Lexi's 3rd birthday party. She had a great time and so did her crazy cousins and brother. Unfortunatly my camera batteries died so I'll have to get you the good pics from my mom's camera later. But here's Lexi with her "pink cake with pink sprinkles" that she requested.
I also forgot to mention that on Friday the 13th Lexi and Cole's cat Diego was hit by a car and went to kitty heaven. Because of this, Lexi requested a "kee kee" for her birthday and she is now the proud owner of Ariel a yellow and white kee kee that went into deep hiding during the party so we didn't get any pictures.

MiniVan Mamma's at the Pool

After the brutal defeat this morning in our kite flying we decided it was all about the pool today... we were supposed to go on a cruise tonight with live music and dinner and dolphins, but the wind was too strong, so the pool it was and it was NICE... we also visited Port Isabel which is just across the bridge from us and has a huge fishing pier, a lighthouse, some pirates and $2.00 Margaritas... what more could you ask for? More to come later, we are off on a quest to find some dinner and maybe a few more Margaritas...

Future Kite Flyers of America

There's nothing like starting your day out with a laugh... Nancy and I decided we could provide that laugh for our friends at Sea Vista... (ok we didn't really decide that but we were happy to see it worked out hat way) for our early morning Kite Flying Excursion... Let's just say, "We've seen better days".... it went like this... up at the crack of dawn we were building our new Kites and preparing them for flight... "after googling how to tie knots for kites that is" so by the time we got out there the wind was kickin... and as you can see from the pictures we had a few crashes - and we lost a few kite parts... but I do know we were highly entertaining.. and in the end that's all that matters... we were practicing up for our new sport that we are going to take up... kiteboarding (see photo below) I think we have a little more practicing to do before we hit the waves.

Island Breeze

All of you Michiganders will be happy to hear that even in South Padre island, sometimes "it blows" the wind that is... today we had winds over 25mph - yes it still was a balmy 80 degrees, but it was sligtly on the windy side... so what do you do on a windy day at the beach? Go Fly a Kite! Literally - so we did... I'm not saying we were very good at it... but we tried, and best of all we drove the MINIVAN out on the beach - right to the water ... that was sweet! As you can see the pool was a bit on the empty side today but we were there sweatshirts and all... and check it out Bill - they have flowers here - IN FEBRUARY! Mom... we had some cake for you tonight at dinner... oh and by the way - I'm thinking we might stay so I had an interview down here today - check out my sweet ride below!... Forecast for tommorrow is 77 and we will be back to the beach Kite's and all...

Wish you were here....

Here's a few pic's from the MiniVan Mamma's - Yes you heard that right - we are driving around in a SWEET CHERRY RED minivan - I think the lady at the car rental place had lost her mind I... mean what, do we look like a bunch of soccer moms?
Hate to tell you Michiganders - it's about 75 degrees here, sunny, warm, and this guy down here trying to catch fish (see the pics - that's in front of our condo) did not even have to drill a hole in the ice first! Sorry guys you should have come along...
We ventured out today to the beach (wait the BEACHES - becuase its an island so there are beaches on the entire perimeter - see the water is surrounding it - I was confused by that at first - but hey its an island)...
After beach venturing - we decided to try out our cowgirl skills on some wild stallions. No this was not your typical Tony the Pony ... Nancy was on Radar (I like to call him Rated R Love) and he was a bit on the frisky side. Lets just say Nancy's arms are still sore from holding back the reins. My horse didn't want to be left behind he was all about trotting to the front of the pack... so all I could hear from up in front was Nancy YELLING WHOA WHOA WHOA Big Boy!
By the way, as you can see from the pictures, I saw the SUNRISE this morning - yes the sunrise I don't think I have been out of bed early enough to see that in about a year or so... but it was a little nicer here than at home in MI.

Well, I'd love to tell you more, but we're off to the bar! More photos later....

Leavin' on a jet plane - don't know if we'll be back again

Yes, you read that right - I am out of here!! Nancy and I are going to South Padre Island for a VACATION!! Yes, the beach, the sun, the sand.. the cocktails.. are we there yet? Bill's mom Bonnie rents a condo on the island every year and this year she has to come home early so LUCKY US we are going to go to the beach... we are leaving tonight/early a.m. Tuesday and we will be back next week... unless we decide to stay....

Stay tuned... we will upload some pics from beautiful sunny South Padre Island!

Sit & Fish & Laugh

You know what has been missing from the blog this winter? Ice Fishing pictures! Between the extreme cold, being sick, and being snowed in on the praire - and plowing snow every night - we haven't had a chance to go out Ice Fishing... so this weekend we decided it was past time. We broke out Trevor's new shanty (Christmas present from Cindi) and we went off to the fishing hole. It was a riot... I can't say we made a dent in the fish population, but we laughed until we couldn't stand it anymore and had to pack it up and go home.
If you have ever fished with Trevor before and you are missing your ice scoop (look at the pictures it may be there - at one point I glanced over and here is Trevor with 4 ICE SCOOPS... do you have enough man???
The next day was nice as well and Bill and I decided to try our luck again - we did ok on Pike (turns out we somehow only have 1 tip-up between the 2 of us - maybe they are with Trevor's Ice Scoops... we had a great time but had to bust out before croppie thirty to watch the Superbowl... here are some pics of the fishin..
