FLW

as you might have noticed the blog has been very quiet lately - that's because Bill & I have been really busy working on the house (aka FLW)
Before picture of the driveway ... it was like deliverance the trees were so grown in you couldn't fit down the driveway with a full sized truck without scraping the sides with branches
After picture of the driveway - post lots of trimming and cutting

Before picture of the front of the house - notice the beautiful landscaping
Post some landscaping - still more to do

Picture of the family room and dining room before we bought the house (with their stuff still in it) that would be my dining room table that I bought and they didn't leave me (but I'm not bitter)
Family room/dining room after (yes we know the cushion covers are getting ordered and will be changed soon)

 Kitchen before we bought it
 another "before" kitchen shot
A little cabinet removal at your service

After....
Bill's Den - post new paint job - unfortunately no before picture of this one
Bill's den after
Fireplace - after ;-)
Of course this is only the beginning - follow along I'm sure there's more to come

Birthday Bonanza

hey blog readers,
I'm a little late with the post but on September 8th Kim, Jess and I celebrated Kim's 30th birthday which then rounded out our year of being 30....  actually we started on September 7th when we visited the Paw Paw wine and harvest festival to see the air dogs - it turns out air dogs is only moderately cool (think blow up pool not a lake) however it was a still a good time and we had fun people watching :-) Jess even saw some of her facebook friends but we didn't know their names... we busted out of there just in time to miss the rain and headed off to Olgas to pick up some dinner and over to see Mare for some serious euchre... then back to FLW for the night (we tried to watch Dirty Dancing but we are getting old and instead all went to bed)...
the next day - Kim's actual b-day started out with breakfast in Scotts then a trip to the spa for spa treatments and lunch and then finally off to the Maltby's house for a party with the Maltby family...
It was a great weekend overall but Jess and I did decide that Kim is clearly the creative one of the 3 of us :-)
Here's some pics of the fun...
 Does this picture look familiar?

 Little Mermaid Cake :-)
a little arts and crafts and foot painting
the end of birthdays - good thing we will always stay 30

Family Camping Trip

This weekend we embarked on a camping trip at Fort Custer with Trevor, Cindi, Cole, Lexi and Ty - Monster... it was hot and our site had minimal shade (long story) but we had a great time!  Here's some pics of the fun...
We got really good at setting up tents since we setup Trevor's 2x
Lexi and Uncle Bill playing a little game of go-fish

Ty Monster just hangin out at camp
Lexi ready for a swim at the beach
 Smores are a must

Even Phil, Kim, Natalie and Abby stopped by for Thanksgiving dinner that we cooked over the camp fire - it was delish (especially the gravy) - Here's Natalie and Abby trying out Lexi's bike

Trevor and Ty taking a siesta
Cole delivering wood for the fire

Fishin' Tournament

The Bennett Family Fishing tournament of '12 occured this last weekend and was full of excitement
Each year when Trevor takes care of Cork's house we spend at least one night trying to best eachother with by catching the largest fish - this year I think Norma took the prize with the biggest fish and the most fish!  Everyone caught fish and had a great time and Ty was there to cheer us on and wait for his turn when he's old enough to catch his own.  Here's some pics of the fun....

August Already

Cant' believe its already Aug. time is flying by.... We finally put out our rain gauge at FLW (because my mom was sick of me asking how much rain we got) and I think it must have helped because we got over 2" of rain!  Don't worry Bill I'll water the flowers ..

Little Ty-Monster has been in the hospital but I'm happy to report he is home and is feeling much better now - he was diagnosed with  viral meningitis - while he and mom and dad were at the hospital trying to get him better - Little Lexi Lou stayed at our house - she was not quite ready to sleep in her "downstairs bedroom yet" but we had tons of fun!  Bill probably has had enough Alvin and the Chipmunks for the rest of his life thou...

Lexi with Bill's new Deer Archery Target
Lexi Playing in the rain because that's all it did all weekend - don't worry Cindi it was a short trip in the rain :-)
Post rain playing...

Lexi and I also did some cooking together and while I don't have any pictures for some reason I'm happy to report that there were no explosions like last time - we baked cookies with Grandma (Mare) and Linda and at my house we also tried out a new lasagna recipe that Trevor and Cindi says is awesome http://peckontheweb.blogspot.com/p/the-pecks-recipe-box.html
We also managed to finish up the rest of the pickles and made some sweet pickle relish....

Also this last weekend was Heather's Andrew's (soon to be Blodgett) wedding shower - Bill & I helped out with the Chicken salad - Bill and Daryl smoked 5 chickens (in between playing wii with Lexi) and Nancy, her sisters and I concocted this Avocado Chicken Salad (No Mayo) Of course there was some slight modification but this was the basic recipe and it was a winner - suggest you try it out!
