Sometimes it Blows.. A Winter Rant by Bill
Life on the Prairie so sunny so pretty,
Sunrises, Sunsets the like rarely seen, Open spaces so rarely found, here on the prairie life abounds.
Spring, Summer and Fall, the seasons you see, they all have sunshine and gentle breezes to enjoy.
Summer breezes hard to find? Not ours, just look around. The endless sunshine with no shade to block grow the pretties flowers and gardens that rock.
When you think what today’s weather shall bring? Just look West! Oh to view open skies 20 plus miles all around ,just decide which way the wind shall blow and look to see, what kind of weather is inbound.
Pesky mosquitoes that darn little pest, just wait, a breeze will take care of that pest.
All is fun this life on the Prairie.
WAIT!!! What is this I see fall from the sky? Oh no it isn’t, it surely can’t be, for this place is so perfect for me.
A little white flake the size no bigger than sand, floats down looking for a place to land, the place it lands it surely will stay? No bigger than a grain, no need to be afraid. Look it has friends they too wish to land why be afraid it’s no bigger than sand. Landing here and there no reason to fear it’s is only the size of a little white sand. They fall and they fall looking so pretty this little white sand all wanting to land.
Oh this is not so bad, this little white sand. What harm can come from something the size of a grain of white sand ???
The wind shifts, from the North it now blows, bringing a little blast to redden the nose.
The little white sand, SNOW as it is known, seems to be unhappy so it starts to roll, looking for better places to rest, and it brings all its friends and puts us to the test. Seeking out our own little home you see, they come from afar, many miles from here, unhappy with the places it landed, but did not stay, instead looking for a gathering place on the prairie from miles away.
PEOPLE from the city don’t know what to say. “Our snow knows what to do, it lands and it STAYS!!!”
Sometimes it blows, we reason and explain.
They state matterafactly that all is ok, but never have the nerve to venture our way.
Sometimes it blows the wind you see!! Oh you can’t see the wind so you choose not to believe.

This story is made up, a rouse you see, to get out of things is easy to see.. Blame it on the wind “It blows you see” No I do not, I choose not, this wind you see,` is all made up, as simple as can be.
Sometimes it blows we cry from afar you choose not to believe, thus so far.
Seeing is believing and I see no wind this whole thing made up and it don’t mean a thing!!
We go through life and find it hard to believe, the wind blows sight unseen. The thought of being open is a hard little thing. “Sometime it blows” is our story you see,
Merry Christmas

First Christmas of 2008
On Sunday we visited Aunt Maude & Tom's house for our first Christmas of the year. We had a great time eating way too much food (no thanks to the pecan pie I burned that morning - good work bringing a different one Julie) and playing Bingo... we never get tired of Trevor saying uh huh every time his number is called... And of course, we had a special visitor - Santa, here are some pics of his arrival.

Jadyn's Christmas Play...
This week was little City's Christmas play at his school Howardsville Christian. He did a great job singing with his class, and was looking quite grown up in his shirt and tie. We're a litle worried about his arms though.. as you can see in the picture they don't seem to work above his head :-) we're gonna have to work on that one city folk.
Thanksgiving & Lyz's Birthday
All I really needed to know I learned on the Farm...
We recently had "farm dinner" with everyone who works on the farm during the year. It was a great time and we reminisced about some of the things we had learned in the last year of farming.... I would say we could actually replace All I ever needed to know I learned in Kindergarten to All I ever needed to know I learned on the farm.. but I think I will need some help. Here's what I have so far...
• Put things back where you find them.
• Tractors are Green, Trucks are Red.
• Smoke = Fire (maybe combine) GET THE WATER.
•Often in life, its better to be the hired man than the boss
• Quite a little bit means more than a little but less than a lot.
• You can learn a lot about a person by the way their hat is cocked.
• Lunchtime is at 12:00 noon - Don't bring spaghetti.
• When you go out into the world, look both ways when you cross the street.
• Rain is good - except when there is too much.
• Roots go down, plants go up - enough said
•No one actually knows where the Wasmunski place is...
•A pothole/wethole should probably remain that way... unless its in the way of something
•When its brown, it's down
•When life's got you down - pet King Kitty
